Ray was brought up in a loving home where the gospel was taught and discussed. But that academic knowledge of the Savior did not grow into a trusting personal relationship with the Lord until Ray was confronted with the enormous challenge of being a good husband and father. Feeling inadequate for this very important calling, the young man sought God and Godly mentors at a Baptist church in Chesapeake, VA. There, at 23 years old, Ray and his wife, Jennifer, publicly professed Jesus Christ and were baptized. They were living in Virginia while Ray served in the US Navy, and then moved to Maryland for five years where Ray began working in commercial nuclear power. As members of the local church they taught Sunday school and VBS, worked in youth and children’s ministries, and served as a deacon family. In 2006 this growing family moved to Bay City, to pursue career opportunities at South Texas Project, where Ray still works. Ray and Jen have 10 children: Brandon (holding his little girl-his wife Bethany is taking the picture), Megan, Zachary, Benjamin, Samuel, Makayla, Amber, Faith, and Nathaniel and Erin.
